It’s rare that we get a car to test before pricing has even been announced, but there is a White Sand Beige — yes, that’s the name of a single paint color — 2011 Kia Sorento V-6 four-wheel drive in our garage right now that, as equipped, would run a hefty $33,510 before $795 in destination charges.
Luckily for cost-conscious shoppers, the base model with a four-cylinder engine and two-wheel drive starts at $19,995 before destination. Obviously, there is a huge chasm between the two in terms of not just the powertrain but also standard features. We list all the trim levels and pricing below.

For comparison purposes, the Sorento is similarly sized to the Dodge Journey, whose four-cylinder base model has a four-speed automatic and not a manual transmission like the Sorento and starts at $20,490.

Comparably equipped, a V-6 Journey SXT starts at $23,790 with six-speed auto, but the Sorento offers a V-6 only in its top trim EX starting at $27,195. A comparable four-cylinder LX with continuously variable automatic transmission starts at $22,395.

Even though the Journey is front-wheel and all-wheel drive, the two-wheel-drive and four-wheel-drive Sorentos best the Dodge in mileage across the range by up to 4 mpg. The 2011 Sorento goes on sale next month.
