After I hit my first deer at 65 mph on the back roads of Southeastern Kansas, I decided that it would be a good idea to get a little protection up front, just in case it happens again. I'll admit, it really changes the look of my baby and I love it.

These tires saved my life on more than one occasion this winter, their 255/75R16 Cooper all terrain tires, great tread debt and amazing grip on anything and everything I go over or through.

After all the outside work I put into her, I decided it was time to upgrade the interior some. First I installed my Kenwood fold out deck.

Just a little Porn of my baby, sorry she's so dirty but as you can see from my Snow in March gallery, my Sorento is a little dirty and I haven't had a chance to clean her up yet because of all the rain we have been getting down here.

I was finally able to start working on my list and custom built a warm air intake thanks to the help of some great Spectre parts. If you want to see how I made it here is the thread:

Hopefully by next week, I'll be able to fab up my own heat shield out of some .25 inch steel in order to make my intake into a make shift cold air intake.

So I got a little bored over the weekend and decided to make myself a heat shield and water barrier for my filter. I started out just going and buying a waterproof battery container for bass boats, but after hacking and destroying it, I decided that I could make something that looked a lot better with some sheet metal and tin sheers. So 3 hours and $20 dollars later I now have a make shift heat shield for my Sorento.
All I did was go to Lowes and purchase a 12x24 piece of 1/8 sheet metal, then went to my local Autozone and purchased a few feet of weather stripping to pad the side.
I started out by making a bend 1.5 inch 90 degree bend on one for the sides so that I could curve the piece to properly in order to wrench it down into place with the factory bolts and nuts.

I made to knock's in the metal, and folded them inward and drilled one hole in each flap in order to attach them to the factory bolts.

I then marked the angle I wanted and drew a curving line downward in order for it to fit snuggly under the hood.

I then cut a rectangular piece in order to thread my Spectre intake into the throttle body.

I am extremely satisfied with the outcome and hopefully this will help my engine perform a little bit better in the end.
