THE DAY WE BROUGHT HER HOME

DEER DAMAGE- 11/23/2008

DEER DAMAGE REPAIRED AND BIGGER TIRES/BUTTERFLIES- I'm girling her up!

In the works:  lift and brush guard (if I can find one)
Suggestions/opinions?
To add to the mod list:
Caliper paint (pink) (Edit: ordered Mar 5)
Possible debadging
Removing black door pillar coverings (Edit: one side finished Mar 6)

Something I just thought of:
Paint the horns behind the grille pink to go with the calipers? (Edit: will probably do this)

Hubby asked if I wanted interior pink accents, but I'll have to think about that one. (Edit: found pink seat covers on Ebay!!!! Haven't ordered yet, though.)

Edit: added a few more butterflies on Mar 6-I had some left, so why not use them?

EDIT: Mar 14, 2009: 2" lift kit installed, calipers and horns painted pink, V6 on engine cover painted pink (tried to paint all 'silver' parts of engine cover pink with what was left of the caliper paint, but that didn't work out, so we took off all the paint but on the V6- I'll get spray paint for that later). Second door pillar covering removed Mar 7. Have not debadged yet- still thinking on this one

Addition to the list:
Windshield decal that says "Sorento"- in pink, of course!!! (found one on Ebay for $10, now if I could just decide on a font, lol)
OK, a reminder of Day 1:

And this is how she looks today:

2" lift, butterflies, and a peek at the pink calipers:

Pics of lift installation:
Hint from hubby for 2007+ models:  Once you remove the battery tray, you have access to the driver side top bolts, so disconnecting the relay box (at top of pic) is not necessary

He also did not disconnect the electrical connector on the mass air flow sensor.  He just simply moved everything aside and set it on top of the engine:

He also says that there is a slight order problem on one of the bolts: instructions say to remove the brake line from the strut, then the pinch bolt a few steps later, but this is actually the same bolt.  A pickle fork is necessary to separate the control arm, but you are risking damaging the ball joint boot.  He damaged mine, but fixed it by taking one off his old Dodge truck, and it was a perfect fit.  Do not go by the instructions in reference to bolt sizes- the instructions were wrong more than they were right.

All in all, the lift is well worth the price and the work involved to install it.  The kit comes complete even with thread lock. (We did not know this and I bought some.)  Instructions recommend an alignment afterward, but when I took mine in this morning, I was told that it wasn't really necessary and the amount it was out of alignment was probably there to begin with.  The whole process took 4-5 hours (not counting the trip to Harbor Freight an hour away for a few last minute tools).  He says "d@mn metric sh!t".

I am a very happy girl!!!!
A LITTLE BETTER BEFORE AND AFTER COMPARISON WITH THE BIGGER TIRES:
BEFORE

AFTER
Wow, it's been a while since I've done anything and/or posted it on here!!!  I have a few new mods that I have done in the last few months:

BLACKED OUT THE TAIL LIGHTS: (pic is from our anniversary trip to the mountains here in WV in June and the only one I have of this mod)

CHANGED THE FULL BLACK OUT TO A BUTTERFLY SHAPE TO GO WITH THE SIDE DECALS: (get A LOT of looks/comments on these)

NEW TOUCH SCREEN CD/DVD/STEREO AND XM RADIO:

Recent changes:
We had to remove the stereo and reinstall the factory one because of a shorting issue that hubby could not trace.  (If listening to the stereo with the car not running, there would be a loud feedback noise and the battery would instantly go dead and need a jump start.  Weird, huh? Plus, other miscellaneous noise issues.)  Also, relocated the XM radio to the dash.

Radar dectector (two speeding tickets in three months got me that for Valentine's Day, lol)

This decal, custom made by a good friend of mine.  The pic isn't great, but it says "Fight Like a Girl" in pink with a white outline.  Hubby and I installed it ourselves in just a few minutes.

Still loving the Sorento. She'll roll over 100k miles by end of summer, and still running strong!!!!!
