I have no sympathy for that cars owner. We had a truck fly around the corner by our house, hit some water then my pickup and knocked my truck up into the driveway where my two kids and the neighbors children were playing. We had just gone in the house. I went out side and the driver was limping his truck home down the street. If my wife had not stopped me I would probably be in jail right now for murder. If this helps stop street racing I'm all for it.

I know we just own little Kia SUVs, but some of us have some other fast little cars in our possession... all I have to say is, take it to the track if you want to flex your HP muscle. The street is no where to be proving your speed addiction while putting innocents at risk.
On the other hand, I'd like to know exactly what law has to be violated in order for them to legally crush your vehicle? I'm just hoping that it's not vaguely written and open for abuse potential by the authorities. I mean just because your vehicle is souped up, doesn't mean you've been street racing.

Impounding cars as they do here in Aus I can understand but crushing them seems such a waste

OK, since some of you do not like the crushing method let's go with the usual impound...

see.. now that is something good done with a "street racer" car.. honestly, if they impounded the cars and then used them for undercover work to break up the illeagel street racing, i wouldnt have a problem with that at all..
