Just thought you might be interested to see what my wife's just bought. Not sure you can get them in the States but you certainly can in England, Europe and Ausi. It's a Suzuki Swift, 1500cc, goes and handles like a new mini but at half the cost. All the drama including 8 airbags, ABS, fog lights, AirCon etc (even a fuel consumption readout) etc. Looked at smaller Kia's but none could match this for style and wow factor.

isn't it on the same chassis as the mini? Read somewhere, that they're pretty much exactly the same. you can also get it in 4x4
We have a similar suzuki here but it's not called the swift. It's called the ah...um...welll anyway we have one like it here. They should put one of those wind up keys stickin out the back...not trying to be disrepectful, just trying to spread a smile..come on you smiled a little thinkin about it.
It does LOOK little doesn't it, love the idea of a key sticking out the back !!! Actually it's surprisingly large inside and doesn't feel like a small car at all, guess it's cos the wheels are on the "corners" and the "cabin" covers most of the area of the car, you can't even reach the windscreen sitting in the drivers seat. You're right about one thing though, recon you'd be jambed in there if all 8 airbags went off at once, great protection though !! It has the "normal" front airbags plus small head protection ones that come out of the top outside of the seat, plus 2 side curtains at the front and ditto to the rear, guess in a small car you need more protection as there isn't as much body around you take up the initial impact. Gets a 4 star rating which isn't easy for a mini.
It's not on the mini chassis as suggested by somebody though, don't think BMW would like Suzuki nicking their gear !!! It's very light and pretty simple in the suspension department but sure handles and rides well.
They rally them in Europe in the "smaller" classes and I understand they do pretty well.

Nice color. We have this in China. Got a blue unit with a 1.3 liter engine with manual transmission.
I drive the Swift while my wife drives the Sorento
