We didn’t mean to neglect Hyundai’s boy-racer concept, the SR, last week. We really didn’t. But, frankly — it being Europe and all — the SR kind of got lost among the kaleidoscopic swirl of sporty hatchbacks on the Frankfurt floor. The SR’s news value (at least to Americans) is its direct relationship to Hyundai’s next-generation Accent, arriving next year, but should the hot-hatchback market in the US take off, something resembling the SR may one day hit the Hyundai lots. The SR follows the hot-hatch whitepaper to the letter: roof spoiler, ground effeects, turbocharged 2.0-liter buzzer, MacPherson struts in the front, 18” alloys clad in meaty 225/40Rs, traction control, eight-inch video display touch screen (for car controls) and three USB 2.0 ports.
